Support Curlew Conservation
With World Curlew Day on 21st April fast approaching, celebrate nature and support conservation with our specially curated collection of Curlew and other wetland inspired gifts. Some feature the iconic curlew, while others are inspired by the beauty of birds and the natural world. Every purchase helps support our vital conservation work.
Britain holds a quarter of the world’s curlew population, but this much-loved bird is in serious trouble. Since 1970, the number of breeding curlews has dropped by around 65%, largely due to changes in our landscapes that make it difficult for chicks to survive.
At WWT, we’re working to understand the causes behind this decline and find ways to reverse it. Though adult curlews are still visible in many areas, their future is uncertain without successful breeding. Without action, we risk losing curlews from many of their traditional strongholds.
The curlew is now the UK’s highest conservation priority for any bird species. Its decline represents not just the loss of a unique wetland bird, but also a profound cultural and natural heritage loss.
By purchasing from our curlew collection, you’re helping to fund our work and giving this remarkable bird a fighting chance.
